Abstract
Abstract
This article discusses several cases of phraseology shared by the Homeric epics and the Cyclic Thebais and explores three techniques (synergetic shaping, the interplay between analogy and difference, and metaphrasis) used for the construction of meaning. The diction employed by a post-Homeric epic such as the Thebais indicates that several individual expressions acquire an interpretive surplus when examined against the backdrop of the system of archaic Greek epic, a fundamental component of which is Homeric epic.

Abstract
This article explores the shaping of Heracles’s persona in the lost epics of Creophylus, Pisander, and Panyassis. In consultation with relevant literary and artistic accounts, I investigate the hero’s modus operandi within each of these so-called Heracles epics. While scholars have been hindered from envisioning Heracles as a fully fledged character within the framework of these poorly preserved poems, my examination aims to shed light on his dynamic representation in early Greek epic.

Abstract
Abstract
This article explores the verbal and the mythological intertextuality of the archaic Greek sources that relate the abduction of Ganymede and either omit or overemphasize the compensation of horses provided by Zeus to Ganymede’s father. By employing focalization, I trace the myth’s re-presentation in different narrative contexts and I investigate its reception by Hellanicus and Apollodorus. I argue that although the myth is tailored differently according to the narrative purposes of each work, its narratological function as a hortatory analepsis and a celebratory myth is consistent.
