The extraction of antimony (III) from hydrochloric acid solutions with 1-[2-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-4- propyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl]-1H-1,2,4-triazole was studied. Optimal extraction conditions are found. It is assumed that antimony (III) is extracted by the anion exchange mechanism at a phase contact time of 5 min. The extractable antimo- ny (III) chlorocomplex was isolated and characterized by electron, IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The re- extraction and concentration of antimony (III) from hydrochloric acid solutions has been studied. The possibility of separating antimony (III) from bismuth (III) is shown.

The crystallization of gypsum from supersaturated solutions in dependence on the molar [Ca2+] : [SO42−] ratio 0,26 : 0,15 and 0,35 : 0,15 in the presence of the sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC, with the degree of polym- erization of 1000 units) and NaCl was investigated at 25C. The efficiency of inhibition was estimated from measure- ments of change in Ca2+ concentration during the precipitation process. It was found that increasing the calcium ions content in solution compared to sulfate ions results in decrease in the induction period of crystallization. At a polymer concentration of 1,0 g/L and sodium chloride concentration of 0,7 mol/l the induction period of gypsum crystallisation in a supersaturation of the calcium sulfate solution with the molar rate of [Ca2+] : [SO42−] of 0,35 : 0,15 increases from several minutes to one hour. Further increasing the sodium chloride concentration up to 2,0mol/l did not result in change in the induction period of crystallization. This enables the preparation of supersaturated calcium chloride solu- tions using brines for the sealing of porous rocks, cracks, and joints of soil formations.The results of the phase analysis confirmed that salt precipitates in the form of gypsum.

The kinetics of hydrogen evolution reaction on the intermetallic compounds CeM2Ge2 (M = Fe, Co, Ni) in 0.5–2.0 M KOH solutions were studied using polarization measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. For 1 M KOH, the Tafel constants vary in the intervals: а = 0.46–0.57 V; b = 0.082–0.096 V. The catalytic activity in the hydrogen evolution reaction increases in the sequence CeFe2Ge2 – CeNi2Ge2 – CeCo2Ge2. The cathodic process was shown to be the combination of the hydrogen evolution reaction and hydrogen absorption reaction; the reaction of H2 evolution proceeds through the Volmer – Heyrovsky mechanism with the rate-determining Heyrovsky reaction; the Langmuir isotherm holds for the adsorption of atomic hydrogen.

The growth kinetics of anodic oxide layers was studied on cobalt silicides Co2SiandCoSi2in 0,5 mol/l H2SO4 solution with addition of 0,005 or 0,01 mol/l HF using chronoamperometric measurements at different oxide formation potentials. The kinetics of oxide growth can be described on the basis of the high field model. The current responses to potential steps for Co2Si electrode appear as damped oscillations. The oscillating processes were explained from the standpoint of the theory of linear electric circuits and from the consideration of chemical interaction of the oxide film with the solution.

The corrosion-electrochemical behavior of FeSi2 electrode in 5% H2SO4 and 5% H2SO4 + (0.1–0.5) g/l NaF solutions was studied. It is concluded that in 5% H2SO4 solution with a corrosion potential, an oxide film is formed on the FeSi2 surface, which is similar in composition to SiO2. The oxide film is not reduced at low cathodic polarizations; as a result of anodic polarization, the film grows and is doped with iron oxides. The presence of an oxide film on the silicide surface determines its high chemical resistance. It is shown that the effect of sodium fluoride, which activates the dissolution of FeSi2 electrode in a sulfuric acid solution, is associated with a weakening of the passivating effect of silicon dioxide and iron oxides. With increasing of NaF concentration, the role of iron in the kinetics of electrode processes on silicide increases, while that of silicon decreases. The order of the reaction of FeSi2 dissolution by NaF was calculated depending on the potential.

The paper presents a review of literature data on methods for researching and improving the technical and technological properties of copper and copper materials used for the manufacture of electrical products. A disadvantage associated with a decrease in resistance to atmospheric corrosion, especially in humid environments, has been identi- fied. A method of high-energy impact on the surface is proposed in order to form protective coatings. The results of corrosion-electrochemical tests of samples subjected to short-pulse laser action are presented. In the course of the re- search, the parameters of laser radiation were varied: power, surface scanning speed, frequency, protective atmosphere. Optimal values of the parameters are established, which provide an increase in the corrosion resistance of pure copper and copper alloys. The values of contact resistances of the processed samples are determined. Preliminary conclusions are made about the relationship between processing parameters and the improvement of anti-corrosion properties and a change in the value of contact resistance. It is necessary to study the composition and structure of the resulting surface layers.

A technique for vulcanization of nitrile butadiene rubber with low-molecular-weight phenol-formaldehyde resins of random structure has been developed. The correctness of the technique was confirmed by 13С NMR data, si- multaneous thermal analysis and differential scanning calorimetry and thermomechanical analysis of the obtained sam- ples and initial components. It is shown that the obtained samples have higher physical and mechanical characteristics in comparison with the original rubber.

Regularities of the complex formation of scandium with catechol violet in the presence of the cationic surfactant catamine AB in aqueous solutions are considered. The optimum pH interval of scandium complexation with the reagent in systems with and without catamine AB has been determined. The absorption spectra of pyrocatechin vio- let and its complexes with scandium in the double system and in the catamin AB presence at different pH values and surfactant concentrations were taken. The ratio of metal ion and reagent in the forming complex in double and triple systems has been established by methods of saturation and isomolar series. Calibration graphs were constructed, molar light absorption coefficients were calculated, and conditional stability constants of scandium complexes with pyrocate- chin violet were determined by the Babko method.

Radical copolymerization of 2,2-diallyl-1,1,3,3-tetraethylguanidium chloride with acrylic acid in bulk and in organic solution has been studied. It has been established that the copolymerization proceeds with the formation of acid-enriched random copolymers. Kinetic regularities of the copolymerization reaction were investigated and it was found that with increasing proportion of 2,2-diallyl-1,1,3,3-tetraethylguanidinium chloride in the initial monomer mixture, the rate of the copolymerization reaction decreases.

In order to study in more detail the mechanism of hydrogen evolution reaction, knowledge of which is ne- cessary for the practical implementation of existing ideas and developments in the field of modern electrocatalysis and hydrogen energy in general, the electrocatalytic properties of acridine and its derivatives in the presence of acids of var- ious natures were studied. The obtained electrochemical data made it possible to calculate the kinetic parameters of these systems, as well as to reveal the dependence of the rate constant of the limiting stage of the hydrogen generation process on the рКа of the acids used. The results of the work will make it possible to treat with greater understanding the creation of «molecular platforms» based on organic compounds, as well as improving the efficiency of the catalytic process and varying the available parameters.

In the current study, the physicochemical properties of N-benzoyl-N'-(2-naphthylsulfonil)hydrazine (BNSH) were measured by spectrophotometric and gravimetric methods. The solubility of this reagent was determined in ethanol, KOH (0.1 mol/L), toluene, chloroform, and hexane solutions. It was shown that BNSH can be used in the processes of flotation and extraction. Results of spectrophotometry confirmed that BNSH is a weak diacid due to obtained values of the acid dissociation constants (pKa1= 7,78 ± 0,42; pKa2 = 13,53 ± 0,44). Also, it was established that BNSH solutions are sufficiently stable over time in alkaline media: the degree of hydrolysis within two hours is 8,10%. The results of stalagmometric method showed that BNSH is a surfactant.

The work is devoted to the study of the physicochemical and surface-active properties of N-(benzoyl)-N'-(phenylsulfonyl)hydrazine (BPSH) to assess the possibility of using the reagent in the processes of concentration of non-ferrous metal ions. The solubility of the reagent in ethanol, 0.1 mol/l KOH solution, toluene, chloroform, and hexane was studied by spectrophotometry, refractometry, and gravimetry. Acid-base equilibria in reagent solutions and hydrolytic stability were studied by spectrophotometric method. The surface activity of BFSH was studied by the stalagmometric method.

The aim of this work is the synthesis of composite materials based on highly dispersed zinc oxide and the study of the effect of synthesis conditions on their composition and structure. Finely dispersed zinc oxide was prepared by a thermal decomposition of products of ZnCl2 and (NH4)2CO3 interaction. ZnO nanocomposite materials modified by silver were synthesized by chemical and photochemical reduction of silver salts in a zinc oxide matrix. It is shown that, in the case of chemical reduction, Ag/ZnO nanocomposites with an average silver particle size of 22 nm are obtained. When using the photochemical method of reduction of silver ions, the effect of the ratio of components on the morphology of the samples was noted: at a ratio of ZnO:AgNO3:NaCl - 1:0.5:0.5, the formation of Ag/AgCl/ZnO nanocomposites is observed, with an increase in the silver salt content, the formation of silver nanoparticles is not observed, and AgCl/ZnO nanocomposites are formed. The high bactericidal activity of Ag/ZnО was shown.

The stratified system antipyrine - sulfosalicylic acid - water eliminates the use of toxic organic solvents, allows for the group extraction of macro- and micro-quantities of elements into a small volume (~ 2 ml) water-organic phase, in this phase many photometric reagents are easily dissolved. The extraction-spectrophotometric method for the determination of molybdate-ions with phenylfluorone has been developed. The optimal conditions for the formation of a colored compound with an organic reagent have been determined: light absorption maximums; optimal time for color development; photometric reagent amount, linearity range of the calibration graph. In optimal conditions for the complexation of phenylfluorone with MoO42- (λ = 526 nm, τ = 20 min, CR = 5·10-5 mol/l), a calibration graph is constructed. The Bouguer-Lambert-Beer’s law is fulfilled in the range from 10 to 60 μg Mo(VI)/20 ml. The molar coefficient of light absorption is calculated, which is 9.2∙104. The effect of interfering ions on the direct extraction-spectrophotometric determination of molybdate ions is studied. It is found that the determination of 50.0 μg of molybdenum(VI) does not interfere with: 5000 - fold molar excess of Ni(II), Co(II), Cr(III), Mn(II), Cd(II), Zn(II), Pb(II); 500 - fold molar excess of Re(VII); 1 - fold molar excess of In(III), W(VI).

Previous studies have shown that the developing of electrocatalytic systems based on organic molecules can be considered as the most promising direction in the field of electrocatalysis due to their characteristics, as well as the possibility of their variation. In this regard, it is important to study in detail the regularities of the catalytic process. In the presented article, using the method of cyclic voltammetry and theoretical data, the activation energy of the process proceeding in solutions of acridine salts will be calculated. The data obtained will allow a more detailed ap- proach to the development of metal-free electrocatalysts for the production of molecular hydrogen.

The possibility of using 2-ethylhexanoic acid hydrazide (Hydrazex 18i) as a collector in the silver recov- ery from the leaching residues of copper cinders has been considered. The effect of pulp pH, reagent concentration and pretreatment of residue with sulfuric acid on flotation performance has been studied. An improvement in silver flotation characteristics (concentrate quality and recovery) with Hydrasex 18i compared to sodium butyl xanthate has been shown. The principal possibility of enrichment of silver-poor products in acidic and alkaline media with the help of the proposed reagent has been established.

A methodical approach for determining the content of lignin in plant materials by the FT-IR method in the mid-infrared range has been developed. The technique for determining lignin content is based on the use of a cali- bration graph reflecting the dependence of the intensity of the 1510 cm-1 analytical absorption band on the lignin con- tent in model samples. This method was tested on a wide range of lignocellulosic biomass samples. The suitability of the proposed method for the determination of lignin content has been shown.

A technique has been developed for the spectrophotometric determination of Co(II) ions with N-(2-hydroxybenzoyl)-N'-(p-tosyl)hydrazine (GBSH) in an ammonia medium. The absorption spectra of the reagent and its complex with Co(II) ions have been recorded and analyzed. The optimal conditions for the formation of the complex compound were found: the pH range of complex formation; optimal time for color development; amount of photometric reagent. Under optimal conditions for the complexation of GBSG with Co(Ⅱ) ions, a calibration graph was constructed. The Bouguer-Lambert-Beer law is fulfilled in the range from 0.3 to 2.4 mg Co(II) in 25 ml of solution. The true and apparent molar light absorption coefficients were calculated. The true molar coefficient of light absorption of the complex compound GBSG with Co(Ⅱ) ions in an ammonia medium is 750. The molar ratios in the solution of the complex compound [Co(Ⅱ)]:[GBSG] = 1:1 and 1:2. The conditional stability constant of the GBSG complex with Co(Ⅱ) ions was calculated using the Babko method and it is 3.24∙1012. The convergence and correctness of the spectrophotometric technique were determined by the method of mathematical statistics.

The inhibiting effect of some compositions of «Soling» series on low-carbon steel St3 in solutions of 5% and 15% HCl and 5% H2SO4 has been studied by the methods of polarization and gravimetric measurements. The protective action and the coefficient of inhibition of the corrosion process are calculated, the slopes of the Tafel sections in the cathode and anode regions of the polarization curves have been calculated. The influence of inhibitors on the kinetics of partial electrochemical reactions has been determined. The state of the surface of the samples has been estimated using micrographs. The high efficiency of inhibitors in acidic media has been shown.

The phase composition and structure of titanium silicide have been investigated by X-ray diffraction and X-ray spectral microanalysis methods. It has been found that the investigated silicide is a singlephase system consisting of a high-temperature TiSi2 modification with a rhombic face-centered lattice. The cathodic behavior of the TiSi2 electrode has been studied by the methods of polarization and capacitance measurements. It has been found that the cathodic potentiostatic curves of silicide in solutions of 0,5 M H2SO4; 0,5 M H2SO4 + 0,005 M NaF and1,0 M NaOHhave Tafel sections with slopes of 0,120; 0,097 and 0,109 V and they are characterized by the values of the hydrogen evolution overvoltage 0,90; 0,64 and 0,74 V (at i = 1 A/cm2), respectively. Titanium disilicide in sulfuric acid solution belongs to materials with a high overvoltage of hydrogen evolution, but in a fluoride-containing sulfuric acid solution and in an alkaline solution - to materials with a low overvoltage of hydrogen evolution. Based on measurements of the differential capacitance of the TiSi2 electrode (at f = 10 kHz), it has been concluded that a thin silicon dioxide film (Si + 2H2O → SiO2 + 4H+ + 4e–)is present on the surface of the silicide in the acidic fluoride-free electrolyte.

Distribution of iron (III), thallium (III, gallium, titanium (IV) chloride complexes in sodium chloride – synthanol DS-10 – water and ammonium sulfate – synthanol DS-10 – water systems, as well as iron (III), cobalt , nickel, cadmium and copper (II) thiocyanate complexes in the ammonium sulfate – synthanol DS-10 – water system investigated. It was found that the main influence on extraction is exerted by solution acidity and nature of the salting-out agent. The conditions for quantitative extraction of thallium (III) and gallium in the form of chloride complexes, as well as the conditions for maximum extraction of iron (III), zinc and cobalt thiocyanate complexes are established.

The process of precipitation of La3+, Sm3+ and Tb3+ ions by anionic surfactant alkylbenzenesulfonic acid at various concentrations and ratios of components has been studied. The influence of the medium acidity and mixing time on the precipitation is considered. The resulting precipitates of rare earth elements ions with alkylbenzenesulfonic acid were studied by thermogravimetric, elemental and chemical analysis, and their composition was established. The conditional solubility products of the formed precipitates have been calculated. The optimal conditions for the precipitation of lanthanum (III), samarium (III) and terbium (III) ions with alkylbenzenesulfonic acid from aqueous solutions have been established.

Phase equilibria in the neonol AF 9-10 – water system were studied using the visual-polythermal method. Value of lower critical dissolution temperature was determined (68°C). In order to assess the extraction capacity of system, the distribution of number of organic reagents was studied. It was found that increase in reagent hydrophilicity leads to decrease in its distribution coefficient. An extraction-spectrophotometric method for the determination of 1,2–2,4 mg/l nickel with 4-(2-pyridylazo) resorcinol (PAR) in the neonol AF 9-10 – water system has been proposed. It was found that ratio of nickel : PAR in the complex compound is 1: 2.
